Course objectives:
Course objectives is to train students for independent editing and improving the text by adjusting it to orthography, grammar, and syntax of the standard Croatian language, also paying attention to the question of style. The goal is also to correct errors by proofreading.
Course content:
1. Introduction: course content and proposal, language editing and proofreading
2. Croatian standard language, language norm (norm of Croatian standard language)
3. Language tolerance and language changes
4. Editing and proofreading marks
5. Orthography. Orthography dilemmas
6. Grammar. Grammar dilemmas
7. Grammar. Grammar dilemmas
8. Word order
9. Lexis. Lexis dilemmas
10. Lexis. Terminological dilemmas
11. Pleonasms
12. Multifunctionality in Croatian standard language
13. Practical Croatian
14.Synthesis
15. Test.
Format of instruction: seminars and workshops, independent assignments.
Student responsibilities:
Students are required to:
1. Participate in the teaching process (80 % of seminar papers)
2. Prepare and present a seminar paper according to pre-determined criteria
3. Behave in accordance with ethical and scientific principles in higher education process.
Grading and evaluating student work in class and at the final exam:
In accordance with the stated learning outcomes and the obligations of students in the course, the final assessment is based on the following elements:
1. Passed mid-term exams: 50%
2. Written and presented seminar paper: 25%
3. Participate of teaching: 25 %.
