Description:
Introduction to general research methodology - basic conceptual definitions; gnoseological base and epistemological characteristics of science; society and science. System and classification of science. The characteristics and problems of scientific knowledge. Basic methodology of pedagogical research; limits and possibilities of pedagogical research; Sources for the selection of research problems. Types and methods of pedagogical research; action research. The project research. The techniques and instruments for data collection. The methods of data analysis. Characteristics of a good professional and scientific work. Writing reports and the application of research results.
Seminar: Analysis of scientific papers and research projects. Independent/team making of the research project. The discussion of methodological issues.
Learning outcomes:
  1. Enumerate the epistemological characteristics of science
  2. Explain the characteristics of scientific knowledge
  3. Distinguish between qualitative and quantitative methodology
  4. Indicate the basic characteristics of the methods of data collection
  5. Develop various instruments to collect data
  6. Analyze scientific papers and identify the characteristics of a good professional and scientific work
  7. Create draft of qualitative (action) and quantitative research according to research problems and choose the appropriate procedures for data collection
  8. Discuss the methodological issues
