career Days will be held at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split from 12 to 16 October 2026. The event is organised by the Faculty’s Career Planning and Development Centre in cooperation with the Faculty’s partner institutions providing practical training. The programme will bring together students and representatives of employers and partner institutions, offering an opportunity to explore professional placement opportunities and avenues for career development.

This year’s programme will open with a panel discussion entitled “Degree, Knowledge or Personality? What Do Employers Look for in Candidates?”, which will take place on Monday, 12 October, at 10 a.m. in Classroom P8.

During the discussion with employers, participants will explore what makes a good job candidate beyond formal education and which skills and personal qualities can be decisive in the recruitment process. Particular attention will be given to communication and interpersonal skills, initiative, responsibility, adaptability and willingness to learn.

As part of Career Days, the Faculty’s partner institutions where students can undertake practical training will also be introduced. The Department of History will present one of its partner institutions, the Archaeological Museum in Split. This will give students an opportunity to learn about ways to gain practical experience and apply the knowledge acquired during their studies.

Students are invited to take part in the programme and make the most of this opportunity to engage with employers, learn about the Faculty’s partner institutions and plan the first steps in their professional careers.

As part of the institutional research project Following the Roman Road: Via Gabiniana from Salona to Klis (ViaG), led by Assoc. Prof. Ivan Matijević, PhD, archaeological excavations were carried out from 5 to 26 June 2026 at a previously unexplored site in the western part of Salona.

Alongside members of the project team, six students from the Department of History and the Department of Art History at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split took part in the work. The students were involved in excavation, documentation of finds, and field survey of the road route, gaining valuable hands-on experience in archaeological work and insight into the methods used to study ancient transport infrastructure.

Via Gabiniana was one of the most important road routes in the Roman province of Dalmatia, connecting Salona with the hinterland. The project investigates the section of the road between Salona and Klis, as well as the monuments that arose along it from antiquity to the Middle Ages.

The results of this year's research will be presented in 2027.

Basics of Using the IT Infrastructure

Upon enrolling at the Faculty, students receive an electronic identity (AAI username, AAI identity) and the corresponding password from the Student Affairs Office. The password must be changed on the website https://login.aaiedu.hr/promjenazaporke/.

The electronic identity takes the form of an email address provided by the Faculty and is created as follows: username@ffst.hr. More information about the electronic identity can be found on the https://www.aaiedu.hr website.

The email address has the following format: username@ffst.hr.

The Google Workspace service (https://workspace.google.com/dashboard) provides a range of cloud-based services, including the Google Mail email service (https://mail.google.com/), which can be accessed using the electronic identity and the corresponding password.

The Microsoft 365 service (http://portal.office.com/) provides a range of cloud-based services, as well as the option to install Office 365 on a personal device (desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or mobile phone).

Using the electronic identity and corresponding password, students can access Studomat online at www.isvu.hr/studomat. Instructions for using Studomat are available on the website https://wiki.srce.hr/display/TUT/Za+studente. A temporary password for Studomat is not used (the initial registration is carried out by the Student Affairs Office).

The credentials provided by the Student Affairs Office for using the electronic identity are personal to each student and must not be shared with anyone else. In the event of a lost password or if the password is not accepted, the Student Affairs Office will issue a new password to the student in person only.

For any problems related to the malfunctioning of the email service, students can contact the IT Service (Office 243).

Users may continue to use their email account for up to 90 days after their student status expires. After this period, the user account and associated data are automatically deleted from the server.

Call for Short-Term Student Mobility (BIP programmes, summer/winter schools, etc.)

A new Call for Short-Term Student Mobility for study purposes under the Erasmus+ programme for the 2026 application year has been opened. You can find it at the following link:
Call for Short-Term Mobility – Application Year 2026

As announced at the last meeting with coordinators, certain changes have been introduced in the new call, so I would like to briefly highlight the most important ones:

short-term traineeships cannot be applied for under this call;

short-term mobilities under the International Opening programme are also not covered by this call;

students may apply exclusively for short-term mobility for study purposes, for example for BIP programmes, summer/winter schools and similar forms of mobility;

the mobility must include both a physical and a virtual component and earn the student at least 3 ECTS credits;

doctoral students are an exception: their short-term mobilities do not have to include a virtual component or earn ECTS credits, but must still be carried out for study purposes;

mobility can be carried out exclusively at an institution with which the student's constituent unit has a signed Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreement.

For any questions and additional information, students can contact: fjelaska@unist.hr

Filipa Jelaska, Expert Associate
Office for International and Inter-University Cooperation / International Relations Office
