International cooperation and publication - "Pedagogy in Education Practice"

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split, in collaboration with the University of Applied Sciences in Nowy Sącz from Poland and the University of Belgrade from Serbia, participated in the publication of the international collection "Pedagogy in Education Practice", published in Split in 2024.

The collection represents the result of international academic cooperation between three higher education institutions and brings together scientific and professional contributions in the field of pedagogy and educational practice. Its publication contributes to the exchange of knowledge and experience among academic communities and further strengthens international cooperation in the field of education.

Guest lecture by Violetta Kopińska

On May 6, 2025, Violetta Kopińska from the University of Toruń, Poland, gave a guest lecture for undergraduate students of Early Childhood and Preschool Education at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split. She presented the topic "Children’s Participation in Polish and Croatian Core Curricula for Early Childhood and Preschool Education". As part of the lecture, students had the opportunity to compare two national contexts, recognize their similarities and differences, and reflect on the possibilities of including children as active participants in the educational process.

Study group visit to the international teaching base GALB, Berlin

On May 6, 2024, a group of 14 students accompanied by professors from GALB, Berlin, visited the Faculty of Philosophy in Split. This is an international teaching base of the Facultyof Humanities and Social Sciences, through which students are given the opportunity to visit Berlin and participate in professional practice.

During the visit to the Dean's Office, the study group participated in an activity entitled "An overview and comparison of the education and social system in Croatia and Germany", which was held as part of the May Friendships (Friendship in May) 2024 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

The study group's visit continued throughout the week, where the students had the opportunity to participate in a joint workshop with students from the Faculty of Philosophy, and the professors had the opportunity to participate in the final conference of the MORENEC project at the Solin Kindergarten and visit the Marjan Kindergarten group for a project presentation.

Thank you to the organizer of the visit, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sc. Antonela Marić, and to all colleagues from the Department of Early and Preschool Education at the household.

Visit of students from Berlin to the Department of Early and Preschool Education

In October 2022 students and professors of the Preschool Education and Social Work program at the G.A.L.B. GmbH school in Berlin visited the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, where they were greeted by the Vice-Dean for Science and International Cooperation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Antonela Marić, on behalf of the Board and the Dean.

The guests met their fellow students from the Department of Early and Preschool Education, talked with them, and attended classes in an inclusive classroom moderated by professors from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Branimir Mendeš, Ivana Visković and Toni Maglica.

It was agreed to conclude an interinstitutional cooperation agreement and open an international teaching base in Berlin, so that students could realize mobility for the purpose of study and professional practice.

Guest lecture by Sérgio Hugo Costa Araújo

On June 6, 2025, Sérgio Hugo Costa Araújo from the Polytechnic of Porto, School of Education in Portugal gave a guest lecture for students of the graduate program in Early and Preschool Education at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split. He presented the topic "European perspective to the debate and policies surrounding alternative care systems for children and young people" to the students, as part of international cooperation and exchange of educational experiences.

International cooperation and networking during 2025

During 2025, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Split - department Pre-school education established cooperation with representatives of European educational institutions and organizations, with the aim of strengthening international contacts and exchanging experiences in the field of inclusive education.

The mission and vision of the Faculty of Philosophy and the University of Split, as well as the Cabinet for Inclusive and Innovative Pedagogy, were presented during the visit. The following visited the Faculty during the year:
May and October 2025 – Alisa Delić and representatives of the organization G.A.L.B. Förderung gGmbH from Germany
May 2025 – Violetta Kopinska from the University of Torun, Poland
May 2025 – Elena Merzliakova from UiT – Arctic University of Norway
June 2025 - Sérgio Hugo Costa Araújo, POLYTECHNIC OF PORTO. SCHOOL OF EDUCATION, Portugal
September 2025 – Mirsada Hodžić and representatives of the institution Osby Komvux, Larcenter from Sweden

The meetings enabled the presentation of inclusive educational practices of the Faculty, the exchange of experiences and the strengthening of international ties, and opened space for further cooperation.

Mariam Lagundaridze, a student from Georgia on an Erasmus internship at the Department for International Cooperation and Mobility until the end of the winter semester, will hold regular consultations with all interested students on the ground floor of the Faculty (next to the entrance to the Office of Student Affairs), on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:30 to 12:30 and on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 to 14:00.

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN FOR THE LARGEST VOLUNTEER PROJECT IN CROATIA "72 HOURS WITHOUT COMPROMISE"

The city under Marjan is once again becoming a center of kindness and solidarity!

As part of the largest volunteer project in Croatia, "72 hours without compromise", young people will unite from October 15 to 18 under the slogan "If not you, who?" and participate in more than 50 volunteer actions of a social, work and ecological nature.

Volunteers can expect numerous activities - from singing in nursing homes, arranging yards and public areas and cleaning the environment, to various workshops with children and people with disabilities, as well as numerous other actions with which we will make our community a better place together.

You can apply for the project individually or in a group, and no special prerequisites are required to participate - all you need is good will, an open heart and a willingness to give your time to others.

Applications are open via the official website of the 72.hr project, and more detailed information can be found on the official website and social networks of the SKAC_ST association.

New call for Erasmus+ internships

The University of Split has opened a new call for applications for Erasmus+ internships

Applications are accepted from September 1, 2026 to May 30, 2028 or until funds run out, and are processed in the order of receipt.

Erasmus+ internships must be completed by July 31, 2028.

Call for Short-Term Student Mobility (BIP programmes, summer/winter schools, etc.)

A new Call for Short-Term Student Mobility for Study Purposes under the Erasmus+ Programme for the 2026 Call Year has been published and is available at the following link:

As announced at our last meeting with the coordinators, certain changes have been introduced in the new call. I would therefore like to briefly highlight the most important ones:

Short-term traineeships/internships cannot be applied for under this call.
Short-term mobility under the International Opening Programme is also not covered by this call.
Students may apply exclusively for short-term mobility for study purposes, such as Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), summer/winter schools, and similar forms of mobility.
The mobility must include both a physical and a virtual component and must enable the student to earn at least 3 ECTS credits.
An exception applies to doctoral students: their short-term mobility does not have to include a virtual component or result in the award of ECTS credits; however, it must still be undertaken for study purposes.
Mobility may be undertaken exclusively at an institution with which the student’s faculty/department has a valid Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreement.
