* Teaching: L+S+E+R = lecture + seminar + exercises + research work The number of hours of teaching refers to all of the teaching realized in one semester. ** Sociological Research Workshop will be organized and realized under the leadership of a mentor (professor with academic title). Students are allowed to choose a mentor according to their interests, wishes and affinities. Special web pages will be designed in order to enable the students to get information about the possibilities of choosing a professor according to their research interests, methodological concepts and other similar information. The mentor elected by the students will supervise them during the whole semester, working individually and on a special concrete project with them. This could refer to empirical market projects conducted over a period of not more than 90 days. In the case of great interest or if the project is not conducted during this period because of objective reasons (such as for example special customer's, sponsor's or donator's requirements), the topic of the reseach workshop can be extend to the next semester, but it can not last more than two semesters. It is recommended that every mentor works with his/her students until the end of the undergraduate study and BA thesis. Students are also alowed to change their mentor after the second semester during the undergraduate study, but this must be explained in written form and sent to the Council of the programme to be reconsidered. Because of the fact that this workshop is imagined as an interactive research workshop its aim is to allow students to meet each other and to work together as a team, but primarily it generates a selection of the best and most active students whose work will be published in coauthorship with their mentor or they will publish it together as a team, or individually. In this context we have already come to an agreement with three publishers, from Split, Zagreb and Rijeka and three research libraries (Social, Sociological and Methodological). They will primarily publish empirical studies, but there will also be numerous methodological and theoretical studies. Different ways of presenting results will also be offered in such research workshops. For this purpose we will organize meetings, discussions, press conferences and similar types of public relations. We will also initiate interdisciplinary research projects and different kinds of meetings for the university at large. |

* The research work is primarily organized according to the student's free choice and it is his/her individual work. It is possible that it coresponds, thematically (theoretically and methodologically), to any other course already attended in this programme (mandatory or elective), but it is not necessary. The mentor's supervision is essential in this work, especially if a student wants to realize it as a kind of preliminary work for his/her BA thesis. The mentor, in cooperation with the authors (students) of the best works, will prepare the work for publication. |

* The BA thesis is a student's individual work which he/she writes/creates under the supervision of his/her mentor(s) (a professor with an academic title). This work might be the product of a long-period of research (empirical) conducted during the 5th semester. The BA thesis may also be theoretical and methodological. ** The final examination is the public defense of the BA thesis made by the student which refers to the themes the student deals with in his/her work. |
