The course deals with key processes of Croatian history from the Battle of Mohács in 1526 to the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy in 1918. It also follows structural changes in the complex four-hundred-year history of Croatian historical space, which was fragmented belonging to the Habsburg Monarchy, the Ottoman Empire and the Venetian Republic. In addition to political history, attention is focused on economic, social and cultural circumstances as well as the history of the Church. The course is also focused on the activities of the most important institutions that are responsible for preserving Croatian state-juridical individuality and the process of creating a modern Croatian nation. |
