Tonija Andrić

Tonija Andrić was born on 20 April 1981 in Split, where she completed her primary and secondary education. She studied History in the graduate programme at the University of Zagreb's Croatian Studies from 1999 to 2005 and enrolled in postgraduate studies in 2006. In 2014, she earned her PhD with a dissertation entitled The Life of the Common People of Split in the Late Middle Ages: The Example of Artisans in the Mid-Fifteenth Century, under the supervision of Irena Benyovsky Latin.
Since 2008, she has been employed at the Department of History, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split. She initially worked as a research assistant, but she was appointed Assistant Professor in 2016, and she has held the position of Associate Professor since 2021. During the 2009/2010 academic year, she pursued professional training at the University of Vienna as a recipient of an OEÄD scholarship. Beginning with the 2017/2018 academic year, she served two consecutive terms as Head of the Department of History.
She received the Award for Excellence in Teaching at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split, for the 2020/2021 academic year. She is the author of several books, scholarly studies, and articles on medieval Split. Her research interests include the social and economic history of the Middle Ages and the auxiliary historical sciences .
