About Career Planning and Development Center

The primary objectives of the Career Planning and Development Center are to foster human resource development, with an emphasis on career planning and management skills, connect students with potential employers, and establish a unified database to track graduation, internship, and student employment data.

Center activities

The Centre organises and runs activities that help students develop skills in creating personal professional development plans, active job searching, CV writing, and interview preparation. It also works to empower students to handle job role demands successfully and encourages them to take the initiative in seeking employment or creating new jobs that meet current labour market needs. In addition, the Centre organises various events and carries out research activities.

Career Days at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split – from Diploma to First Professional Steps

From 12 to 16 October 2026, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split will once again host a meeting point for students, employers and the Faculty’s partner organisations (teaching bases) through “Career Days”, organised by the Faculty’s Career Planning and Development Centre in collaboration with its partner organisations.

This year’s programme begins with a panel discussion titled “Degree, Knowledge or Personality? What Employers Look for in Candidates”, taking place on Monday 12 October at 10:00 in classroom P8. Through conversations with employers, we aim to address questions of particular importance to students preparing to enter the labour market: What, beyond formal education, makes a good candidate? Which skills and traits do employers value most? How important are communication and interpersonal skills, initiative, responsibility, adaptability and a willingness to learn during the hiring process? And finally, what factors tip the scales in favour of a specific candidate getting the job?

Presentations by the Faculty departments’ partner organisations will also be a key part of Career Days. Students will have the opportunity to meet directly with the organisations and institutions where they can undertake professional internships, learn more about specific roles and work environments, and hear what is expected of young professionals after graduation. These meetings with partner organisations also offer a chance to connect the experience gained during their studies with future professional development opportunities. Through a week-long series of activities, we aim to introduce students to the professional world, encourage them to reflect on their career interests and demonstrate that a career is built not only on a degree, but also on experience, competencies, networking, initiative and a readiness to embrace new challenges.

We invite all students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split to join us for Career Days from 12 to 16 October and take the opportunity to meet potential employers and internship providers, as well as to plan their future career paths.
