She graduated in 1989 from the Faculty of Philosophy in Zadar, Department of Teacher Training Studies in Split, with a degree in Art Education and Fine Arts. She obtained her Master’s degree from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb in 1991, with the thesis Ornamentation in the Paintings of the Masters of the Dalmatian School of Painting. In 1994, she earned her PhD from the Faculty of Philosophy in Zadar, defending her dissertation Western Marian Iconography in Dalmatian Painting from the Mid-15th to the 18th Century.
Her research focused on Dalmatian art from the 14th to the 18th century (particularly painting and sculpture) and artists of Croatian origin known as the Schiavoni. Together with Dr. Lovorka Čoralić, she worked on the research and publication of previously unknown archival material related to 17th and 18th-century Dalmatian art.
From October 1, 2007, to October 1, 2009, she served as the Vice-Dean for Science at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split.

From 1990 to 1995, as a young researcher, she was involved in the scientific research project Selected Problems from Dalmatian Painting from the 14th to the 20th Century (6-04-134), led by Academician Kruno Prijatelj at the Institute of Art History in Zagreb.
From 1996 to 1998, she collaborated on the program Artistic Heritage and Artistic Topography of Croatia, conducted at the Institute of Art History in Zagreb.
From 1998 to 2000, she held a junior/start-up research grant project The Iconography of Giorgio Giulio Clovio (020900), conducted within the framework of the core project topic Painting and Sculpture from the 16th to the 20th Century (00200104) led by Prof. Dr. Ivanka Reberski, which was launched in 1998 at the Institute of Art History in Zagreb.
From 2002 to 2005, she was a research associate on the scientific research project Architecture and Inventory in Dalmatia from the 16th to the 19th Century (0020008), led by Prof. Dr. Marija Stagličić at the Institute of Art History in Zagreb.
From 2007 to 2012, she served as the principal investigator for the MSES (Ministry of Science, Education and Sports) scientific research project entitled Eastern Adriatic Art Themes: Art, Politics, Maritime Experience (244-2440820-0794), conducted at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split.
From 2014 to 2019, she was a research associate on the Croatian Science Foundation scientific research project Visual Arts and the Communication of Power, conducted at the Institute of Art History (VACop) in Zagreb (6827), led by Dr. Milan Pelc.
From 2018 to 2022, she participated in the Project of the International Conference for PhD Students and Recent PhD Graduates (participating institutions: Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split; Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana; Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Rijeka; Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade). The Department of Art History in Split participated in the project. Five international conferences for doctoral students were organized (the last one took place in Tbilisi). The inter-institutional agreement was extended until 2025, with the aim of publishing the Pontes Academici edition.
From 2020 to 2024, she was a research associate on the Croatian Science Foundation scientific research project REeCogniseME (Rituals, Symbols, Ceremonies), led by Prof. Dr. Robert Kurelić at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Juraj Dobrila University of Pula.
From 2020 to 2025, she led the independent institutional scientific research project Art in Dalmatia from the 14th to the 19th Century.
Upon completing her studies (1989.), she worked as an assistant at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zadar, Department of Teacher Training Studies in Split (later: Faculty of Natural Sciences and Kinesiology/Education Studies in Split), and later as an assistant professor.
Since the founding of the Arts Academy in Split, she worked as an assistant professor, and from 2001 to 2007 as an associate professor. In 2012, she was appointed to the position of tenured full professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split, in the humanities field, specific field of art history, and branch of history and theory of fine arts, architecture, urbanism, and visual communications.
She has taught at three universities as a visiting professor.
