Josip Guć
Title: Assistant Professor

Josip Guć is a lecturer at the Department of Teacher Education at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split. He also heads the Centre for Integrative Bioethics at the same institution. His primary research areas are ethics, bioethics, and the philosophy of education. In 2022, he co-authored a book with Bruno Ćurko on the development of bioethical sensibility towards non-human animals in children (in Croatian: Odgoj za životinje: razvoj kritičke misli i bioetičkog senzibiliteta) and, in 2023, a book on various bioethical issues concerning non-human beings and the dichotomy of culture and nature in general (in Croatian: Poticaji za bioetičko promišljanje odnosa kulture i prirode u djelu Nikole Viskovića). He has also published a number of scientific articles, lectured at many national and international conferences, and is an active member of the editorial board of scientific journals: Jahr – European Journal of Bioethics, Filozofska istraživanja, and Synthesis philosophica. He currently serves as the secretary of the Methodical Review scientific journal. He is involved in many organizational teams for scientific conferences, particularly as co-president of the organizing committee for the annual Days of animal STudies conference. Notable in this sense was also his position as the chairman of the program committee of the international conference Non-Human Animals in Philosophy and Culture (Cres, Croatia, September 22–25, 2024).
