About us
Students of the Department of Italian Language and Literature, Marija Giljanović, Kristina Granić, Lea Klarić-Kukuz, Sara Krivić, Lorens Lončar, Nina Mirović, Marta Muše, and Vanja Semerad, recently participated in the international scientific conference “Viva Dydaktyka” in Gdańsk, Poland. The conference took place on 21–22 May 2026 as part of the international project Transformation in the University: Peer-Tutoring as a Key Element in Supporting Student Development (Peer-Edu).
The students participated in the poster session with a presentation entitled “Building Competence Through Critical Moments: How Challenges Shape a Peer Tutor’s Skills,” in which they presented and interpreted the results of several months of research into peer tutoring, conducted as part of the research activities within the aforementioned project. The poster presentation attracted considerable interest from conference participants. Members of the project team praised the innovative nature of the topic, the thoroughness of the research, the significance of the findings highlighted by the students, and the presentation’s overall contribution to the field of peer tutoring.
The conference was also attended by Prof. Zorana Šuljug Vučica, PhD, Vice-Dean for Teaching and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split, as well as Prof. Nikica Mihaljević, PhD, and Prof. Antonela Marić, PhD.
As this was the first time our students had independently participated in an international scientific conference, we are proud of their hard work, initiative, independence, dedication, research-mindedness, and critical thinking, all of which they demonstrated while engaging in this type of academic research activity in an international setting. They represented the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split with great pride!
