Course objectives: Introduction to the basic terminology in the field of sociology of family.

Course content:
- Introduction - presentation of program, literature, method, exams (1 hour)
- Emergence and historical development of the discipline (2 hours)
- Theoretical orientation of the family and marriage (2 hours)
- Functions of the family and marriage (2 hours)
- Choice of spouse; marital adjustment; roles in marriage (2 hours)
- Quality of marriage; duration of marriage and divorce (2 hours)
- Gender socialization and division of labor within the family; combine family and work roles (2 hours)
- 1st colloquium (1 hour)
- Family life as a process (2 hours)
- Modern and postmodern forms of family and partnership life; cohabitation (3 hours)
- Living alone (1 hour)
- Parenting (2 hours)
- Family and emotional relations (2 hours)
- Violence (2 hours)
- Future of the family and marriage (2 hours)
- 2nd colloquium (1 hour)
- Final lecture and evaluation (1 hour)

1. Explain the basic concepts in the field of sociology of family.
2. Identify the basic problems of modern families.
3. Analyze the changes made in the area of family and marriage.
4. Analyze current position and role of the family and relationship between family and society.
