Biography

Daniela Petrušić (née Radović) was born in Split on July 26, 1983. She is a Croatian citizen. After graduating from the First Language Gymnasium in Split and the Josip Hatze Secondary Music School in 2001, she enrolled in the Academy of Arts, University of Split, majoring in music theory, as the first-ranked student. During her studies, she participated in numerous seminars and professional training courses in teaching solfeggio, harmony and choral singing (Rea-method of intonation by Prof. Oliver Oliver, Methodology of teaching solfeggio by Prof. Elena Abizova, The art of choral singing by Prof. Mats Nilsson and Skočizvuk by Prof. Elvira and Renato Happ). During her studies, she worked part-time at the Croatian National Theatre, and worked as an organist and leader of church choirs in Žrnovnica and Solin, and the youth band Vis Signum in Kaštel Lukšić. She was in Solin from 2004-2025. worked as an organist and leader of the mixed church choir of Our Lady of the Islands.

She graduated in April 2006 in the class of Prof. Dr. Sc. Vedrana Milin Ćurin. Her graduation thesis entitled Solfeggio Teacher in a Music School included research among students of the Josip Hatze Music School in Split, and solfeggio teachers of music schools in Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar, Nin, Rijeka and Zagreb. In the fall of 2014, she enrolled in postgraduate doctoral studies at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Split, module Mediterranean Interdisciplinary Cultural Studies. In April 2016, she obtained the title of lecturer. She defended her doctoral dissertation entitled Functions of Music in the Life of Adolescents and Their Musical Preferences on July 3, 2023, under the mentorship of Associate Professor Dr. Sc. Snježana Dobrota and Associate Professor Dr. Sc. Ina Reić Ercegovac. This earned her a PhD in the scientific field of humanities, a field of interdisciplinary humanities.

Professional memberships

Since 2023, she has been a member of the Croatian Society of Church Musicians and a member of the editorial board of the magazine Svjedok.

Past employments

From 2006 to 2019, she was employed part-time at the Ostrog Primary School in Kaštel Lukšić. Her teaching hours were supplemented in the fall of 2012 at the Kneza Mislava Primary School in Kaštel Sućurac. In the meantime, she worked as a substitute at the Josip Hatze Music School and the Boris Papandopulo Music School, teaching solfeggio, harmony, piano harmony, and musical forms. She passed her professional exam in 2007. From 2006 to 2017, she worked part-time at the Academy of Arts, University of Split, as an expert associate, teaching the Solfeggio course (I, II, and III years, Music Pedagogy major). Since 2019, she has been working as an assistant at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Split, in the Department of Early and Preschool Education. Since May 2019, she has been teaching at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Split, at the Department of Early and Preschool Education, in the following courses: Fundamentals of Musical Culture, Music Practicum 1, Music Practicum 2, Music in Early and Preschool Education 2, Children's Musical Creativity with Practicum, Instrumental Practicum 1, Instrumental Practicum 2, Group Music Making and Music in Puppetry. She was a co-author on two diploma and seven final theses and a mentor on seven final theses. She was the head of the institutional project Musical for Children (2021-2023). She participated in five international scientific conferences and the Science Festival in 2024. She was an Erasmus commissioner from 2022-2024, and from 2022-2025, an ECTS commissioner at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Split. In 2025, she earned the title of senior assistant.
