Teaching

Biography

After completing her primary and secondary education in Split, she graduated with a degree in English Language and Literature and Italian Language and Literature from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zadar in 2001. In 2015, she defended her doctoral dissertation titled "The Development of Grammatical Competence in the Interlanguage of Croatian Learners of English as a Foreign Language," written under the mentorship of Prof. Sanja Čurković Kalebić, PhD, at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb.

From 2001 to 2006, she worked as an English and Italian language teacher in primary and secondary schools, as well as in foreign language schools in Split. Since 2006, she has been employed as a teaching and research assistant at the Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split. After obtaining her PhD, she was appointed as a postdoctoral researcher. She was elected to the research rank of Research Associate in 2019, and in the same year, she was appointed to the scientific-teaching position of Assistant Professor.

She has been actively involved in university teaching from the academic year 2006/2007 to the present. During this period, she has taught courses at the undergraduate level (Introduction to Linguistics, Morphology and Morphosyntax) and at the graduate level (Glottodidactics, ELT Methodology, Practicum and Teaching Practice, Psycholinguistics and Cognitive Aspects of Language).

Since her last appointment, she has mentored and co-mentored a total of 5 master's and bachelor's theses and has been a member of several thesis defense committees.

She has twice been the Head of the Chair of English Language and Applied Linguistics and is currently the Deputy Head of the Department. She is a member of the Committee for Science and the Internal Quality Assurance Committee of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split.

She is a long-standing member of the examination committee for the professional certification of trainee English teachers in secondary schools in the Dalmatia region.

Her primary research interests include applied linguistics and second/foreign language acquisition, with a specific focus on the development of grammatical competence, the acquisition of morphological features, and the reflective practice of pre-service English language teachers. She has published a total of 13 scientific papers and has participated in numerous academic conferences in Croatia and abroad.
