Born in 1965 in Split, a citizen of the Republic of Croatia residing in Kaštel Lukšić. He completed his primary and secondary education in Kaštela. In 1994, he graduated with a single-major degree in history from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb; the title of his graduation thesis was Confraternities of Kaštela from the 16th to the 18th Century (supervised by Prof. Zdenka Janeković Romer). In 2007, he was elected to the nominal teaching title of lecturer in the scientific field of humanities, field of history, for the course Methodology of History Teaching. Since September 1, 2007, he has been employed at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split, Department of History. In 2011, he defended his doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, titled Stari Grad on Hvar from the Nationalization of the Municipality to World War I: An Island Town in Crisis at the Turn of the 20th Century (supervised by Academician/Prof. Nikša Stančić). In 2011, he was elected to the scientific-teaching title and corresponding position of assistant professor (docent), from December 19, 2017, to the scientific-teaching title and position of associate professor, and from 2023, as a full professor. He has published 5 single-authored scientific books, 4 co-authored scientific books, 1 co-authored bilingual exhibition catalog, co-authored 7 domestic exhibitions, and published a total of 35 scientific and professional papers. His research interests include microhistorical levels, the history of everyday life in the Central Dalmatian region, and the methodology of history teaching.
He worked as a history teacher at Rude Elementary School in Samobor and Sveta Nedjelja Elementary School, then at Ostrog Elementary School in Kaštel Lukšić and Don Lovre Katić Elementary School in Solin. In 1999, he completed an additional pedagogical-psychological education program at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Education, University of Split, and in 2000, he passed the state certification exam for the title of history teacher. At Don Lovre Katić Elementary School, he served as a coordinator for school projects (2001–2007) within the framework of UNESCO Associated Schools (Associated Schools Project in Education for International Co-operation and Peace) and the pilot project Tourist Culture (2006–2007). Parallel to this, he was a member of the National Committee for the Development of the Primary School History Curriculum in 2005 and participated as a lecturer in HNOS (Croatian National Educational Standard) training programs for history teachers. Since September 1, 2007, he has been employed at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split, Department of History. He has been a member of the Examination Committee for State Certification Exams from 2012 to 2026 under the Education and Teacher Training Agency. He also served as the president of the National Committee for the History Competition in 2014, 2015, and 2019. In parallel, he participates in intercounty professional meetings of primary and secondary school history teachers (organized by the Department of History, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split and the Education and Teacher Training Agency) as a lecturer in contemporary history teaching methodology (selected topics: Microhistory and the History of Everyday Life – Implementation in Teaching (2012), From Traditional to Contemporary History Teaching (2014), Methodologies of Implementation in Regular Classes and Extracurricular Activities – Using the Example of Sinjska Alka (2015), The Operation of the Public School in Stari Grad on the Island of Hvar under the Circumstances of World War I (2017), Is Salona a Misery, or is Our Relationship with It Miserable and Fruitless (2018), Models of Active Learning Using the Example of the Show Trial Against Archbishop Stepinac in 1946 (2022), A View from Below – Emigration from Stari Grad and Jelsa at the End of the 19th and Beginning of the 20th Century (2023)). In 2019, he was appointed a member of the working group for refining the Proposed Subject Curriculum for History for Primary Schools and Gymnasiums in the Republic of Croatia.
