Strategies for Supporting Children with Challenging Behaviours: An Inclusive Approach in Early Childhood and Preschool Settings, Schools, and Families

The project Strategies for Supporting Children with Challenging Behaviours: An Inclusive Approach in Early Childhood and Preschool Settings, Schools, and Famil…The project Strategies for Supporting Children with Challenging Behaviours: An Inclusive Approach in Early Childhood and Preschool Settings, Schools, and Families (SPDIP) focuses on analysing the factors that contribute to the success of inclusive education — both in terms of professional resources and programme support, and in terms of the competency profile of early childhood educators and teachers for designing and implementing comprehensive strategies for recognising, understanding, and effectively managing challenging behaviours in children across early childhood and preschool settings, as well as in school and family environments. The theoretical foundation of the project is the concept of pedagogical trichotomy, which in this context encompasses three key dimensions: phenomenology, aetiology, and prevention. The expected project outcomes include strengthening the competencies of all stakeholders involved, improving the quality of support for children with challenging behaviours, and developing an inclusive and stimulating environment that contributes to the child's holistic development. A distinctive feature of the project is the elaboration and testing of a syncretic and multimodal approach within a preventive context. The project aims not only to address existing challenges, but also to advance practice in working with children over the long term — both children with typical development and children with special educational needs — laying the groundwork for sustainable change and building a community that accepts and supports diversity, that is, every child.
