The course aims to enable students to acquire the academic skills necessary for successful study. Students will become familiar with academic sources and methods of researching relevant information, as well as with the characteristics and conventions of academic communication and academic genres they will encounter during their studies. With each unit covered, students will activate and consolidate the acquired theoretical knowledge through practical tasks that include reading, writing, presenting, and listening to academic texts.

1. Students will be able to employ appropriate strategies to effectively participate in lectures and seminars during their studies.
2. Students will be able to identify and analyse characteristics of academic discourse.
3. Students will be able to plan, choose and apply relevant strategies to achieve their own academic goals.
4. Students will be able to critically evaluate and choose content required for their further independent studies.
