ENGLISH LANGUAGE IV (DEPARTMENT OF ART HISTORY)
Conceived and tailored to the academic needs of art history students, this course aims to teach art history students the "language" of the discipline at an advanced level, i.e., its terminology that is important for an understanding of technical terms and processes within the scope of the arts of painting, sculpture and architecture. Students are exposed both to the assigned articles on art history and to a number of selected extracts from biographies of artists, thus familiarising themselves with terms and concepts indispensable to describe a work of art. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions and demonstrate their understanding of the readings.
