The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the oldest Slavic literary language and the most important texts in that language, as well as to train students for independent access to the oldest Slavic literary texts and linguistic understanding, interpretation and transliteration of these texts.
The main goals of the course will be achieved through independent study and processing of texts in Glagolitic and Cyrillic in the Old Church Slavonic language, ie in the Church Slavonic language of the Croatian editorial board and the application of acquired knowledge, which also helps develop research curiosity. By direct research of texts and adoption of grammar of the Old Church Slavonic language, students will adopt the meaning it has for the culture and literature of all Slavic peoples, including Croats, and it is so much that it is impossible to imagine a professor of any Slavic language without at least basic knowledge of that language.
