Description:
Course objectives: Introduction to basic characteristics of social position and orientation of youth in contemporary society, sociological theories of marginal groups, youth subcultures and alternative movements, youth activism.

Course content:
- Introduction - presentation of program, literature, method, exams (1 hour)
- Youth in historical and social context (2 hours)
- Review of sociological theories of youth (2 hours)
- Basic characteristics of youth culture (2 hours)
- Adolescent Studies - key definitions, concepts, principles (2 hours)
- Changes in transition to adulthood (2 hours)
- Youth Identity (2 hours)
- 1st colloquium (1 hour)
- Youth sexual practices (2 hours)
- Youth in civil society and local community (2 hours)
- Youth in the age of globalization (2 hours)
- Youth activism (2 hours)
- Lifestyle of young people in Croatia; youth leisure (2 hours)
- Sociological theories of marginal groups (2 hours)
- The concept of counterculture, subculture and alternative movements (2 hours)
- 2nd colloquium (1 hour)
- Final lecture and evaluation (1 hour)
