Description:
Class lectures on the art history of the Ancient world will include an overview of ancient civilizations: a review of the architecture and art of Egypt and the Aegean Bronze Age culture. Particular emphasis is placed on the Greek art of the early geometric, archaic, classical and late classical periods to Hellenism. The art of the Apennine Peninsula come next: Etruscan art and the development of the art of the Roman Empire through examples of architecture, historical reliefs, sculpture and painting.
Through seminar topics the students will independently work on specific monuments, directly related to the topics of the above-mentioned lectures, present papers and submit them in writing.
