Description:
Introduce students with the theoretical foundations necessary for understanding motivation, socialization in the classroom and to train them for effective communication with students and their parents. Introduce them to the psychological aspects and basic principles of working with students who have special educational needs

Content:
Psychological explanations of motivation: learning theories
Psychological explanations of motivation: cognitive theories
Understanding and acting on student motivation
Teacher and student communication
Class as a group process
Classroom management
School and classroom as an educational context
Learning difficulties; ADHD
Language, speech and reading / writing difficulties
Behavioral difficulties and emotional difficulties
Physical difficulties, mental retardation, autism
Gifted students
Communication and work with parents of children with special needs
Learning outcomes:
  1. Appoint and explain basic theoretical concepts relevant to understanding motivation in an educational context
  2. Choose an approach to encourage and support student motivation to learn, but also in the wider context of classroom behavior
  3. Describe, explain and apply the basic principles of effective communication with students and parents, class organization as a group and as a space in which the educational process takes place
  4. List and explain the specifics of working with students with special education needs and describe the legal framework to which such work is subject
  5. Compare different approaches in working with students with special education needs, which are based on the experience of working with students who have special educational needs
