Marita Brčić Kuljiš (Split, 1980) is a full professor at the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Split, where she heads the Center for Research and Education in the Field of Human Rights. She works as a transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary researcher (human rights, democracy, education, freedom of speech, migration, sustainable development goals). She is the author of about 30 articles and book chapters; she is the editor of several scientific monographs and professional books, and has published three scientific monographs, and the scientific monograph In Search of Freedom of Speech is in print.
She is the former Vice-Dean for Science and International Cooperation at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Split. She is the recipient of several prestigious scholarships, including a Fulbright postdoctoral scholarship at the University of Georgia in the USA. In 2025, she received the Award for Excellence in Scientific Research in the Field of Humanities at the FFST, and in 2026, the Award for Science in the Field of Humanities at the University of Split. She is a member of the expert team of the SEA EU Alliance Observatory of Migration and Human Rights (OMHR). She has participated in and led projects funded by Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, and the European Social Fund. She is currently engaged in two international and one domestic scientific project dealing with the hidden curriculum in the higher education system. She is engaged as an evaluator of scientific projects at the European Commission, a political commentator and a trade union activist.
