Description:

Introducing students to the basic concepts of interculturalism, intercultural competence and
teaching culture in EFL at an early school age, with special emphasis on the importance of L1 (Croatian) culture. Raising students´ awareness of the fundamental elements and specifics of L2
(Anglophone) cultures.

Learning outcomes:
|
- - explain the concepts of interculturalism, intercultural competence, L1 culture, intercultural communication and pragmatic competence
- - relate the definitions and models of the stated concepts with their practical application in the context of early EFL learning and teaching
- - provide examples of activities which can be used to teach learners elements of source and target cultures in early EFL
- - list and describe the basic elements and specific features of L2 (Anglophone) cultures
- - list and describe similarities and differences between specific elements of Croatian culture and the culture of anglophone countries relevant to the EFL classroom
