Paper: YOUNG AND MOBILE: POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF THE ERASMUS PROGRAMME FOR DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF YOUNG PEOPLE’S LIVES

Abstract:

Education policies are taking new dimensions today. One of the mostimportant ones is the international aspect and study mobility. Various strategiesand programmes are emerging in the European Union aimed at combiningthese dimensions and providing an adequate framework for a broader, moreinclusive and high-quality education of young people in Europe. The Erasmusprogramme is one of the options in this context and has reached great popularityamong young people in higher education. This paper provides an overviewof the effects of youth participation in study mobility within the Erasmus+programme. A literature review on outcomes at the level of soft skills related topersonal development and employability among young people with experienceof study mobility concludes certain favourable benefits of the programme at theindividual level. The Erasmus+ programme for the period 2021–2027 bringssome substantive changes and a significantly larger budget. The programme willhave greater coverage as study mobility would be further encouraged, so impactson young people in the future should be closely monitored and researched.
