General information on the study programme:

The undergraduate study programme in History enables students to learn about national and world history through the proper and responsible assessment of the value of historical sources and their argumentative interpretation. They are taught that any historical research must be guided exclusively by the need to reach the truth and to present historical processes, events and personalities as they really are in order to prevent the misuse of historical science. In this way, students will more easily understand the very complex problems that today's society is burdened with and will be able to propose solutions to improve everyday life.

Graduates with university bachelor's degree in history can be employed in educational and cultural institutions, museums, tourism and in collaborative positions on projects related to history, culture and heritage, as well as in professions that require knowledge of history.

The History study program is comparable to related studies in the Republic of Croatia, which enables student mobility towards similar studies at other universities in the country and abroad.

The university graduate double-major study programme in History offers students the opportunity to enroll in the Teacher Education Specialisation or the Academic Research Specialisation "Adriatic Studies" - "Studia Hadriatica". The study enables the expansion of knowledge, skills and competencies, emphasizes the responsible and independent use of existing knowledge. In this process, existing qualities are respected and new qualities are developed among students, and aptitudes and knowledge from other fields of science are nurtured. Students are trained to be successful knowledge transferors in educational institutions, or to be able to continue their scientific and research work in doctoral studies.

Upon completion of the graduate study programme, students acquire competencies for work in schools, institutes, museums, galleries, cultural institutions, scientific and research projects, tourism and the media, as well as for work in jobs related to the management, promotion and interpretation of historical and cultural heritage.

Upon completion of the university undergraduate study programme in History, students can continue their studies at this Faculty by enrolling in a university graduate or other graduate study program at this and other faculties and universities in the country and abroad, with possible differences in subjects/credits arising from the specificities of different programs, as prescribed by university and/or faculty regulations.

Graduates holding the degree of Master of Education in History or Master of History have the opportunity to enroll in the doctoral study program in Humanities at our Faculty, in the scientific field of humanities, history and other related fields.
