From 12 to 16 October 2026, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split will once again bring together students, employers and placement partners for Career Days, organised by the Faculty’s Career Planning and Development Centre in cooperation with its placement partner institutions.
This year’s programme opens with the panel discussion “Degree, Knowledge or Personality? What Employers Look for in Candidates”, taking place on Monday, 12 October, at 10 a.m. in Room P8. In conversation with employers, we will try to answer the questions that matter most to students about to enter the job market: What makes a good candidate, beyond formal education? Which skills and qualities do employers value most? How important are communication and interpersonal skills, initiative, responsibility, adaptability and a willingness to learn when it comes to hiring? And finally, what can tip the balance in favour of one particular candidate?
Another important part of Career Days will be the presentations by the placement partners of the Faculty’s departments. Students will get to know first-hand the organisations and institutions where they can complete their professional placements, learn more about the actual work and working environment, and hear what is expected of young professionals after graduation. These meetings are also an opportunity to connect the experience gained during their studies with future opportunities for professional development.
Through activities running all week, we want to bring the world of work closer to students, encourage them to reflect on their own professional interests, and show that a career is built not only on a degree, but also on experience, skills, contacts, initiative and a readiness to take on new challenges.
We invite all students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split to join us at Career Days from 12 to 16 October and take the opportunity to meet potential employers and placement partners, and to plan their next professional steps.
