11th International Scientific Conference: Phraseology and Paremiology in Split

11th International Scientific Conference: Phraseology and Paremiology in Split

Date: September 11–12, 2025
Venue: Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split, Marko Marulić Hall

The 11th International Scientific Conference "Phraseology and Paremiology: Preserving Linguistic, Literary, and Teaching Heritage" was held at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split, organized by the Department of Italian Language and Literature and the association Phrasis (Associazione Italiana di Fraseologia e Paremiologia).

The conference brought together over 100 presenters and scholars from Croatia and abroad, underscoring both the global relevance of the conference theme and the growing recognition of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the University of Split as vibrant centers of academic excellence.

At the same time, this scholarly gathering contributed to enhancing the reputation of the city of Split and enriching the local community through cultural and academic engagement.

On the first day, participants were welcomed by:

  • Prof. Igor Jerković, PhD – Vice-Rector for Science and Quality, University of Split

  • Prof. Ina Reić Ercegovac, PhD – Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

  • Matea Dorčić – Deputy Mayor of the City of Split

  • Prof. Cosimo De Giovanni – President of the Phrasis Association

  • Assoc. Prof. Marijana Alujević, PhD – Chair of the Organizing Committee

The main focus of the conference was the intersection of phraseology, paremiology, and intangible cultural heritage. Participants explored both theoretical and applied dimensions of the field, emphasizing its significance in preserving cultural traditions and in language acquisition.

The event fostered a positive and stimulating atmosphere, marked by fruitful discussions and academic dialogue, which allowed for the exchange of insights and fresh ideas.

In addition to the academic program, participants also took part in cultural activities, including a guided tour of the city and a guitar and saxophone concert, which further enriched the overall conference experience.
