Životopis

Simon Ryle je profesor književnosti na Odsjeku za engleski jezik Filozofskog fakulteta u Splitu. Predaje poeziju, dramu, film, kreativno pisanje i književnu teoriju na tečajevima o ranom modernom dobu, poetskom filmu, ekokritici i književnom podzemlju. Godine 2024. bio je Fulbrightov dugoročni istraživački stipendist na Graduate Centeru, CUNY. Doktorirao je na Sveučilištu u Cambridgeu pod mentorstvom Stephena Heatha. Njegove knjige su: Shakespeare, Cinema and Desire: Adaptation and Other Futures of Shakespeare's Language (2014.) i Xenoflesh: Vegan Poetics and Capitalocene Meat (2026.). Objavio je brojne akademske eseje i uredio četiri zbirke eseja, uključujući izdanje časopisa The Journal for Cultural Research o Deleuzeu i Shakespeareu. Njegovo istraživanje istražuje odnos poetike, etike i utjelovljenja, posebno u vezi s pitanjima želje, alteriteta, komodifikacije života i tehnologija rata u književnosti, filmu i teoriji.
